Weeknote 1

Photos, One Battle After Another, dystopian pub

  • It’s rule number one of writing that you should know why you’re writing, and rule number two that you should know who you’re writing for. These weeknotes will fail on both counts.

  • Got scans from two rolls of film back: I’m using a Yashica Electro 35: an old camera that I love. It’s a learning process. The scans were a mixed bag, as always, but a good few came out well.

  • Saw One Battle After Another on Wednesday and loved it. Has loads to say, says it well and doesn’t take itself too seriously. A lad next to us answered his phone halfway through which fully blew my mind.

  • A pub near me permanently shows BBC News on mute which I’ve always found weird. Surely we know from pop culture that pubs should only turn on the news at big moments in history. Instead, we had a silent piece on the risks of Sora 2 playing out while people around us stared into their phones. Very dystopian. (Or deeply dystopian, because that’s how everything must be felt now).
